Tomorrow’s leaders need to be equipped for tomorrow’s challenges, and we must adequately prepare our children for the future they will inherit. That requires a commitment to providing children with environmental education that helps them become the educated thought leaders of tomorrow.
Raising an environmentally literate generation of problem solvers will help ensure that tomorrow’s decision-makers are prepared for the challenges they will likely face. Studies have shown environmental education engages students in learning, raises test scores, and encourages youth to pursue career in environmental and natural resources. The future of the environment, natural resources, and our quality of life begin with the education of today’s youth.
At the weekend, we have organised a new event which consists of a trip to a rural estate deep in the country in Cuacos de Yuste. On this occasion, we are going to take part in a mycological activity taking a trip around the aforementioned rural estate while an environmental educator will provide us with the necessary information to learn to go mushrooming without damaging the environment. Finally, he will teach us to distinguish between the different edible mushrooms ant the poisonous ones.
